    Moved to AH last year, and really enjoyed coming in for a good burger and beer. Service was great and always had a great energy. We returned with our same group of 7-9 people, ordered a few rounds of buckets and the waitress was not pleasant at all. She checked our ID's and asked us to leave due to one of our friends ID's being out of town from North Carolina, which was a vertical ID. Our friend had another form of ID but the waitress didn't care to look. (She had just moved to Chicago and this was her first night out). The waitress stated that the "entire bar would be shut down if they were caught taking vertical ID's" .. I understand following the rules and laws for that matter, but even with another form of ID on hand and multiple credit cards all in the same name, I guess this didn't suffice. The same waitress then made a comment about my fiance's ID, stating that he "definitely must have lost some weight since he took his driver's license picture". Now, we're a group of sarcastic, funny people and like to have a good time, but the comments made were very rude and inappropriate. Our group of friends would probably come in once a week and order multiple rounds and buckets, so it's a shame we don't feel comfortable coming in anymore. I once really enjoyed this place, but maybe some customer service training will be needed before we return.

    We used to love having a burger and tater tots at this restaurant. After my boyfriend returned from his trip to Asia, the first thing he said was let's go to Harry's and get a burger. We knew something was up because the menu had changed from a newspaper style to a regular restaurant menu. After one bite of the burger, which was served on a different bun (used to be pretzel) I asked the waitress if there was a new owner. She said, well a new manager. I asked if they changed the burger, she said yes, they are using a different burger. The most grease laden non flavorful burger ever. My stomach is still reeling--I had to come back a write a review. The tater tots (and let me tell you I NEVER leave at tater tot) we couldn't even finish. They tasted fine when hot but then tasted like a lard tot after that. Also couldn't help but notice the pool of grease left on our plates from them. If this is a new manager--news flash to the owner--fire him/her. If it's a new owner, well, I don't think Harry's will be our first choice for a burger anymore.

    I've been to Harry's a few times even though I have never lived in the area. We went on a Saturday night and it was pretty dead at 7pm but by 9pm the place was so rocking it was hard to move around. Good mix of young and old in here so there was a good diverse by fun crowd. Server started out really good but got mediocre and worse by a couple hours later. We saw her run to the 2nd floor 2 or 3 times without stopping by our table over at least a 15-20 minute period. granted, I have a feeling they might have been short on servers but we eventually ended up chasing her down just to get the bill. Why oh why do bars insist on having sub-par musical entertainment though? I looked around and I didn't notice anyone that was really paying attention or enjoying the music. Jukeboxes exist for a reason! Well, at least they didn't try to get me to pay a cover.

    2 stars 3 stars 2 stars 3 stars...3 stars for Harry's. Just barely. Why the wavering star rating? Well, Harry's burgers are not very good. And that's all I wanted - to savor a juicy burger on their sweet little patio. The burger patty itself is snooze-worthy. No flavor. It's very much akin to a frozen patty you'd find from Costco. The Merkt's cheese atop said patty was muddled and a bit greasy - it didn't help the flavor along. I was a starvin' marvin so I consumed about half my burger, but, frankly, didn't enjoy it in the least. But there are a few positives. They have tater tots. Yes, that makes me happy. Are they the most wondrous tots around? Nah, but a crispy hot tot goes a long way with me. The patio (outdoor bar) is one of the only in the area. On a picturesque fall day, it's a great place to enjoy an app and a bev. For those who like to have an ale of a time, their beer list is moderate but nicely put together. That is, if they have said beers in stock. For those who are Coca Cola-philes, Harrys is Pepsi products only. They're also running a nice Yelp Check In offer - free domestic draft with any entree purchase.

    Food is really good! The part I didn't like was the regular gang that appears to be the afternoon bar guy gang. Pretty creepy. When they started slinking off, the atmosphere got a lot better. Attentive staff. Fun sports atmosphere.

    An out-of-town friend and I came here for a few drinks. Although there was a bar crawl, the place was SOOOOOO loud. M and I couldn't even have a conversation without yelling at each other in the loft area. We wanted to sit outside but it was packed. To get to the patio you had to walk through the kitchen/server area. It was very awkward and cramped. The patio needs to be larger. I may go back but I wasn't impressed and not somewhere I would recommend my clients to go.

    We had a groupon that we used and food was pretty good. I ordered the fish tacos which were just fine but not a ton of healthy choices to choose from (even if added some sides). I'd return for sure but it's def more bar food so if that's what you are looking for -- go for it !

    Well, I like this place. The food is good! Recently had the chicken taco's and they were fresh and tasty. The service is really good. The gal that works behind the bar is friendly and conversational without intruding. Here's the trouble. There are a bunch of old, disheveled, rude men that sit at the bar and belch , pass gas, and cuss at the top of their lungs. It makes the whole place feel uncomfortable. Suggest bar rescue and get ride of these people!

    Never had the food but I like the place. Decent beer selection, the Sam Adams Summer Ale is good & so is the Phat Blonde Ale (I think that's what it's called). Not a huge place so it fills up quickly on weekend nights, esp if there's a game. Also, idk how common it is but sometimes the place is rented out for parties. So beware.

    A surprisingly good experience. Look at all of those other blah reviews below this one (or maybe above). I was nervous when we took a stab at going here because our restaurant of choice this particular evening had an hour wait. Harry's was kid friendly (surprised me). We had a very attentive server. Everyone (by chance) ordered the different types of tacos they had on the menu and were all pleasantly surprised. The drinks are oddly priced but priced really well (so, who cares if it's something and 70 cents...it was cheap!) I'm happy we were the outliers in the bell curve of so-so service/food. We'll give it another go for sure!

    Great casual fare at a typical price 10-12 per meal. Yesterday a group of real estate agents met here for lunch. Lots of salads and quesadillas were eaten. Odd woman out....I had an avocado BLT. Generous with the bacon. Marble rye was a nice choice and those lovely little tater tots were so good those wimpy salad people shared an order. Bartender very attentive. Refilled nonalcoholic drinks regularly. During meal we committed to visiting more local cafes together. Next stop unknown. Nice lunch experience.

    We stopped in here to grab a bite to eat before catching a concert at the Metropolis. It's a cute little corner establishment located in the quaint downtown Arlington Heights area, but in all honesty ... it could use a facelift to keep up with the rest of the area. That aside, I ordered chicken tenders, which for a bar, I expected to still be halfway decent. I mean, how can you screw up chicken tenders, right? Wrong. They were mostly breading, and a little too cooked for my liking. And you don't get many tenders (I think I had 3, which were short, stumpy pieces). That may have been fine, if it had been mostly chicken, but as I was dining on mostly breading, that was disappointing. And the ladies restroom was just in a bizarre spot. There's a table right outside the door. I almost felt like the party seated there would hear everything going on inside. I understand that this building itself is probably old, but it may just be time to gut it and refresh the layout, and upgrade a few things. The entrance is very bizarre as well, and seems like wasted space. Just kind of disappointing all around.

    I love burgers. Sign on front said "voted best burger." I gave it a shot and it was dry and not good. Didn't like fries either. I was not satisfied. If you are looking for good food, just go across the street to Peggy's, way better burger and service.

    Oh Harry's how I wish u were great (but I think most of us know u just aren't). Average food and beer. Better bloody than average but eddies and Peggy's have u beat. I had a super thin buffalo chicken sandwich that was decent, but there a much better out there. Their beer garden is my favorite in the area but I wish food and service were better. Message to the owners... Please redo, rehire, and refresh ur place. I know lots of people in the area and we all agree this is a gold mind waiting for the introduction into the present.

    Great little bar with an urban atmosphere. If you're looking for something fancy this isn't for you as it isn't too "dive bar" either, something in the middle. Standard bar food and drinks. The only issue we had was waiting a little longer for drinks on a Saturday. Waitress was nice but she was the only one working the floor, not her fault. Looking forward to round two.

    4 star food with 2 star service...me and my gal pal posse arrived around 6 on a Sat night and requested patio seating. It took about 15 minutes for the server to return and she had a 5 or 6 year old child with her...kinda odd. Not sure if she was babysitting and waitressing at the same time, but that's how it appeared. We got a bucket of Miller Lites and their Nachos Grande. The nachos were very well made, lots of spicy ground beef, refried beans, jalapenos, chips, cheddar cheese. Good food, not quite okay service, hence the 3 stars.

    After the races, we wanted a patio to sit on and drink until our friends train rolled through to bring them back into the city. The folks at the track suggested Harry's, and when we drove through downtown Arlington Heights, this definitely looked like the patio for us! It was an absolutely gorgeous night out! We only had an hour. The service was good, and the apps we ordered were perfect. We have the chicken nachos and pretzel bread served with cheese and mustard. We were all pretty full from the food truck festival at Arlington park, so these were perfect apps for our group of four. This place was great - located in the most adorable downtown suburban neighborhood.

    Went back to Harry's after my 1st review because the owner commented on my review and told me that things were changing in management and service. So here is my review of the current status of Harry's. They have added a variety of food to the menu so now there are more options, my wife and I went halloween weekend so the staff was dressed in costumes which shows that it truly is a fun place to be. But the food was still just average. I ordered the streak sandwich and it was very very plain.. it was just cheese, a thin piece of steak and some peppers or onions all served on a hoogie bun.. I asked for no mushrooms and of corse I got mushrooms.. which I just picked off no big deal. I wish the sandwich came with some kind of sauce other than the ketchup that could be put on it if you so choose. The wait staff was very friendly and trying their best, but there were some minor confusions going on mainly involving Yelp. I checked on on yelp and the current deal at Harry's was 1 fee domestic beer with any entree, so i ordered my entree and showed my waiter the coupon.. he had never seen it before, but to his credit that check in deal was very new (maybe only a week old). So he talked with the manager and I got my beer. But then the table next to use also was using yelp and bought a 20 dollar gift certificate on yelp for Harry's for just 10 dollars. No one there knew what this ment and it took them a good 15 minutes to finally settle the bill. I felt pretty bad for them but it all worked out in the end. If you're hitting up downtown arlington heights I would high recommend stopping in at harry's for a pint or two.. but if you want something more than bar food I would eat before hand.

    Ugh! came here over the weekend because I received a coupon in the mail. I should've suspected something was amiss when I found out the coupon for dinner did not include the booze tab. First, the plus's Wait staff was very attentive and the beer was cold. I ordered the chilli mac and cheese came out so cold the cheese was coagulated. So I asked the staff to heat it up. They must have put it in the micro for 30 seconds, for it was not that much warmer. But it was edible. At this point I just wanted to eat and leave. I did not know but the party I went with ordered their signature hamburger. The bun was STALE. Really? Arlington Heights?

    Harry's is a great place to go to when you want to sit on the patio and enjoy a drink in the beautiful weather. Be forewarned that is can get a but crowded by younger patrons drinking as much as humanly possible on a weekend night and it gets rowdy. I have never tried the food here, but the food is always great and I will return for a casual drink!

    I wanted to like this place. I thought they have potential with the patio and all. I've patronized the place for many years (ever since I moved to Arlington Heights). It was always a dive but there were a few items on the menu that I liked such as black and blue burger. They changed the management and for worse. The menu is worse and the place has not been maintained properly. To add insult to injury today they refused to honor a Groupon. Had to argue with bad server and even worse bartender and the worst manager (some clueless girl) to let me use just the amount I paid for. They need new management BAD. The location is too good to be wasted like this.

    We had a group of about 10 people. Our server was very kind and our drinks came fast. A friend ordered some nachos that never made an appearance (not on the bill either) which after he had his beer he didn't mind. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was pretty good. This stop is right off the train so if you're doing a pub crawl go ahead and stop in.

    Harrys' is probably my least favorite place to go in this section of Arlington Heights. I've been here a few times, and I've never been wowed. They have your normal selection at the bar, nothing fancy or special. The food is your normal pub food, which I was not really impressed with either. The service is the part that bothers me the most. They are not friendly or attentive (whether they are busy or not). The last time we came in the place was packed. It took a while for someone to notice that we were even standing there. When they greeted us, they pretty much let us fend for ourselves in order to find a table. We decided to go somewhere else. It's a decent place to come if you're looking to get a drink and everywhere else is packed, but I wouldn't say it's the best place in the area.

    So many good options in the NW suburbs, I'm not sure why we stopped here. I think it was the outdoor patio and the sign claiming the best burgers in town. OK, the patio was decent enough though it lacked any real atmosphere or charm. And the service was fine. But my real reason for stopping was the burger, which I thought was very subpar. No real flavor and dominated by an oversized and flavorless pretzel bun. Boring. No reason to go back.

    I've been in Arlington Heights now for a little over 4 months and I've been to Harry's now 4 times. It's always a good time, they always have drink specials and their food is great. My friend most recently had their chicken with avocado and she said it was awesome! They also have trivia on Thursdays which I always think is fun. Definitely a place to check out when in downtown Arlington Heights.

    Went here for lunch on the weekend of the Promenade of Art. After walking and looking at the Fine and Not So Fine Art, we decided on Harry's. My guest has been here before and she commented on the great burgers on "pretzel" rolls. She was right on both counts. With the Art Fair in progress, I expected to wait for awhile for Al Fresco seating. You all know Al. Great guy from Taylor St (LOL). Our server was very diligent. Asking when she came past if we needed anything. The food took a while but they were packed. I had the Best Cheddar Burger in Town. Yes! My day for some beef, cheese, and bacon. Done to my spec and great tasting. Good fries. My friend had the Vail St Burger. Reg Burger with raw onion. The place was jumping. A good experience on a busy day. JohnnyChitown

    Harrys' is like an extension of my home. I enjoy having my buddies over to my house to watch a game, drink brewskis, munch grub, relax and laugh. When I want to do all that stuff, but don't want to run to the liquor store or clean up the mess afterward, we all go to Harrys'. For this, Harrys' is great. Perfect, even. Four stars, if what you want is a nice place to hang out and party with friends. Here's what you'll find there: * Plenty of TVs for your sports viewing * Buckets of cold long necks that keep coming from the friendly waitresses * A good selection of tasty pub grub - loaded tots are terrific * Outdoor patio seating that's just the best on a nice summer night * Friendly locals who like to laugh and have a great time * An ultra relaxed, laid back atmosphere where you can have a great time without dropping much cash For this, Harrys' is perfect. Harrys' is like the party I'd throw at my own home. I like it there. If you're in the mood for a fun night in a bar -- a real, genuine, 100% fun tavern -- Harrys' is the best place for it in Arlington Heights.

    okay i'll admit, i thought this place would have good burgers because the sign in the window said so. when will i learn! to be fair, the sign said they had the best burgers in town, but i neglected to research just how the other burgers in town were, so maybe it was the truth after all. but it was not a good burger. i ordered it medium and it came out well-done and was dense and dry, much like the pretzel bun it came on. wilty lettuce too. i was the only one there and it still took forever to come out. which now that i think about it, might be why it was so overdone. i like that tots were an option though and those were good, but not remarkable. it's just hard to mess up tots i think. service was fine, which i think is to be expected since no one else was there. a couple regulars came in as i was finishing up and i think that's probably what the place is best for - hanging out if you're a regular.

    We discovered Harry's about 5 years ago when we used to live in Arl Hts. I liked it alot because at that time, we'd moved out here from the city, and missed the "neighborhood pubs" that were around. Harry's literally is like one of those city pubs, picked up, and plopped out here in Arlington Heights. Their food is standard pub food. I have a big fondness for the fish n chips there. However I get it on bread and make it into a sandwich. My husband would usually get a burger. The service is not great. Don't plan on your server being attentive. Sometimes if they are busy, you do have to wave them down. The beer selection is great. It was here that I was introduced to "Stella". The prices are a little above average, but the amount of food you get for it kind of makes up for the price. The best part of Harry's in the summertime is eating out on their patio! All in all, it's not great, it's not bad.

    Started a train crawl here and we couldn't have been happier. With a group of 15 or so people we were able to get our drinks quickly. That's pretty important when you have limited time and need to catch the next train. We will definitely come back on the next train crawl.

    Went here on a Friday to celebrate my friends bday. We were atleast 30 ppl deep, and we walk into this tiny place lol. There were only 2 bartenders, took a long time to get drinks. Place was 2 small, crowd was gay ( you can this is a "regulars" bar). I dont think im ever going to go back to this place lol

    Came here about 6:30 on Friday night with two friends. We walked in and it was a strange crowd- seniors and children. We sat ourselves and the server came over and took our drink order. The place started to fill up and the children left. The menu was obnoxious, as it was laid out like a newspaper, so there were articles mixed in with food items, which made it confusing and annoying. They had $7 pitchers, so we took advantage of that. The food was OK. I ordered a chicken sandwich and got the marble rye bread.....they basically slapped the bread on the chicken, one would assume it would be toasted. The tots were good, my friend said her mac & cheese was good and the fish tacos my friend had looked not so great, but she didn't complain so it must have been OK. This place wasn't anything special, but it was just OK.

    Great place to catch lunch during the week. We at the Eagle frequented Harry's on those nice days where we wanted to eat in the great outdoors (and really were just looking for an excuse to leave the office of course). They have a nice patio to grab a bite, reasonable prices and a good beer selection. Last time I went, I got myself a corned beef sandwich. As a corned beef connoisseur, I was mighty impressed. And the waitstaff has always been friendly and quick to serve our food. Get out of the office and come here for lunch!

    Places with nice outside seating usually get a bump up in my scale o'ratings, but with so many casual restaurants nearby with outdoor seating, that alone could not bump Harry's up to three stars. First, the bar: Standard beer selection, nothing fancy. The do have decent specials (on lackluster beer) and are relatively close to the train station, so props to being a place people could feasibly have a happy hour after a long day of workin' in the City. Next, the food: The menu is quite extensive, but most items fail to rise above mediocre. Nice that you can swap out the beef in your burger for chicken or a ground turkey patty, but none of the burgers looked all that inspiring. I went with the fish tacos. The fish part was more fried fishstick than the "flaky" fish promised in the menu. The veggies on the tacos were good, but sparse. Also, what's up with the boatload of tator tots on the side? They totally overwhelmed the plate. Now, I'm not a culinary genius (read: I grew up in a house devoid of pots and pans), but I think I've deconstructed the recipe for the salsa that comes with the Chips & Salsa appetizer: Two parts ketchup to one part Tabasco. Mix and serve. Ole!

    The bar positions itself as a sports bar. I think there were 4 or 5 TVs total, 2 were small. The sound was not on any of the games...they had music on. Now I know there is no way I'd come here to watch football, much less a game I care about. The food was terrible. They write that they have the best burgers in Arlington Heights. If these are the best, I would rather go to McDonald's. The bun was nasty in a puffy, Wonderbread sort of way, and one side of it was a bit dried out. The burger showed up cold, and the cheese was thrown on there and didn't melt because they put it on much later. I sent it back...I verrry rarely do that. They made a new one, which I give them kudos for. The burger itself is a frozen burger with no taste. They don't actually make them. The only thing that saves this place from a 1 star rating is that they have tater tots.

    I attend Harrys regularly. Lately, the environment is less than comfortable & welcoming. I've witnessed the manager berate an employee publicly, patron the bar heavily intoxicated- And, on June 6th I witnessed him drinking while on duty. I know this because I asked to see a manager & when my server approached him, I was appauled. Very disappointing. I get that this is a bar...but save it for off duty.

    was dissappointed to get two appetizers that were not made correctly. The server should have known when he picked up the order that it looked wrong. They were out of the famous Harryy's sauce. Was told the one app has been changed. They were accomodating and will give them another try! Server does need to be informed and up to date if out of an item.

    New management or some other atrocious downfall befell this place. It is now just terribly awful. They cut the menu to practically nothing. Not only is there very little on the menu, that which is on the menu is terrible. The prices went up. I don't know what happened but this place seemingly fell apart overnight. To whomever now owns Harry's: I don't go to a bar on a Friday night to watch some high school kid jam on his guitar. Not only did I have to endure this poor excuse for a musician (really? Every "song" you play on your acoustic guitar needs to be run through a distortion pedal?), the waitress only served us one round in the forty minutes that we were there. So sad to see this place go.

    Harry's is everything Kathy R said. I love the wednesday night Karaoke, the regulars, staff and menu. I would give them a sixth star for having boddingtons and blue moon on tap, but we can only give a mere 5. NEW AND IMPROVED, NOW SMOKE-FREE. ( Even if I am a smoker, it is an improvement.)

    Very cool neighborhood gathering pub! In downtown Arlington Heights, Harry's is housed in a building of a general store that operated at the turn of the century. It has an outdoor patio, serves basic bar food (my pick: tater tots) and has big-screen TVs, but it's the ambiance that is so outstanding. It's a good place to hang out -- kind of reminds me of Cheers. Offers karaoke on Wed. nights, table trivia on Thursday nights and live music (usually cover bands) on Sat. nights. A friend of mine worked there and we spent a lot of time there: eating, drinking, hanging out; playing table trivia (usually with a full house) was a riot! Staffers are friendly and the owner, Harry (duh!), is super nice. I once went with a group of moms and our babies, and Harry came over and admired the infants and thanked us for coming. The only negative thing is that it can be awfully smoky. (is A.H. still debating a no smoking ordinance?) If it weren't for that, I'd give it 5 stars.

    Went there for lunch today ordered the Cheese burger it was fair maybe a little dry and a little pressed as they must compact the meat before cooking, my wife's was the same way, the bun was really good maybe toast it though , tater tots were over cooked and really greasy. We ate outside it was nice and quit. The waiter was nice but didn't bring the "A" game today almost like he puffed a little magic dragon before he came into work. Im not sure If I could recommend this place by just the one visit

The place has an OK atmosphere and an extensive beer list, unfortunately most of the beers are "light" or no taste mass market beers. The service was very slow and the food mediocre. I gave it two stars because of the outdoor seating.

    I have gone to Harry's a ton when I lived in Arlington Heights and I still like going there when the opportunity arises. They have good finger foods (tater tots!) and they have entertainment on certain nights as well. The patio is great during the summers. I have been to numerous birthday parties and New Year's Eve to Harry's. They have yet to fail me. It's definitely got the neighborhood bar feel and the patrons vary in age. It can get crowded since it's not the biggest place. They hold their own though with Peggy's across the street and a piano bar. Definitely a good place to have a low key evening socializing with friends.

    Wish I could give .25 of a star. Service was incredibly slow, waited 10 minutes to be greeted by server & take our drink order. Drinks arrived 10 minutes later (which weren't priced on the menu). Appetizers took over 15 minutes after placing order and were cold when they arrived. Burger did not arrive cooked to my order. Had to send back & they made another. Had to ask for a 2nd set of silverware after botched burger was taken away. "New" burger was cooked well, but the pretzel bun was grilled "thisclose" to being burned. Completely eliminated any sense of it being a pretzel bun. "Cobb salad" had chopped up lunch meat on it. Server was not attentive, despite being only 1 of 3 tables. All employees were gathered together, talking with each other, checking their cell phones & watching the ball game. Incredibly disappointed in the restaurant - especially when the 18% gratuity was automatically applied (from my Restaurant.com gift certificate) - would have given less than 10%. At least I didn't purchase the gift certificate. Do not go back unless you like .25-star restaurants, being ignored by servers and getting your order wrong.

    We stopped in here before my birthday dinner down the street and I really was not impressed at all. It seemed very "regular" geared, I mean we got stared at like we had something growing out of our foreheads when we walked in. The service was blah...the waitress was extra blah...and the drink selection was aight...overall, a no-go back-o for me!

    At a great location, in the heart of downtown Arlington Heights, Harry's is a typical neighborhood bar. They have a nice beer selection (Blue Moon on tap) and the burger is probably the best I've had in AH. It can get crowded from time to time on the weekends, but in the summertime, the outdoor beer garden offers a great alternative.

    When we first moved to Arlington Heights 8 years ago I would've given Harry's 4 stars. Decent beer (sorry, real micro-beer fan here) and good food. Loved the outdoor seating. Close to our house. Fun to walk around downtown AH. However the service was slow. The slow service only seemed to get worse over the years, and the menu more limited. The last time we went (on a Sunday around 11:30am) the place wasn't particularly packed. Food was ok, but we were there for over 90 minutes!! And we didn't drink. Just eat and *try* to get out. Probably waited 15 minutes just to have a waitress come over to the table (after another employee actually sat us). Then probably 40 minutes to get our hamburgers. I don't think our waitress came over once after the meal was served. I finally had to get up and track her down to get the check. It was another 10 minutes before she came over with the check. Long story short, my wife and daughter finally just left and went to a nearby store while I still waited to pay. I believe its the first time in my life I left $0 for a tip. This experience was 2 years ago and we've never been back. Doubt we ever will.

    Eh, it's a bar. Not great, not completely horrible. I've been there on a Friday night and it was completely packed, couldn't get a seat anywhere. We ended up going upstairs and getting a spot along the rail to lean. Big mistake! As others have said, the service is practically non-existent, so I had to go back downstairs every time we wanted a drink. We went again on a weeknight when they were the "Dinner and a Movie" spot for the week. The burger was OK, typical bar burger. Again, the service was horrible, and there were only about a dozen people in the place. On a side note, the dinner and a movie deal is a great way to get to know the different places around Arlington Heights. For $28 per couple, you get a meal from the "special" menu at the featured restaurant of the week and then go to a movie at the Arlington Theater.

    Harry's is a good local bar and grill. I feel the service could be better as well as the food. I guess what do you expect from a small bar, you get bar food. I was there recently for trivia night and it was compete chaos, noone was into the game and the guy running it was really irritated. Our table ordered Spin Dip and never got it. We finally went up to the bar to check and see what was going on after waiting 30 min. They finally brought it out, they apologized and covered the cost but the dip didnt taste good at all. This place I am sure is a great place to drink with friends late at night but for dinner I would pass.

    I'm just going to start by saying that I absolutely hate this place. I actually created a yelp log in solely so that I can come on here and urge people NOT to spend money at this bar. To begin with, the first time that I had stepped foot into Harry's was after I missed a train at the Arlington Heights train station. It was late and I was angry that I missed the train, so I had stepped into the bar at roughly midnight. I was excited because I wanted a beer REALLY bad and the sign said they were open till 1 (this was on a weeknight). The bar was semi full of people or enough to not warrant a reason to close early. I go up to the bar and ask for miller light and the bartender just flat out refuses me telling me that they are closing (refresher: it's not 12:05am with a room of people). I said I just really wanted a beer that I'd pay cash and I slam it right away. She refuse again and I storm out REALLY pissed when she passed the guy next to me at the bar another round. After that night I refused to ever go in there again, until of course, my friends moved down the street and wanted to go for a birthday party. We went and I stuck to my guns and didn't spend a dime. The last and absolute FINAL time I went in there, was because they were giving away Bears tickets and my friends wanted to try and win them at a raffle. Also, Dan Hampton from the '85 Bears was there signing autographs and, actually, that was kind of neat. It was my turn to buy a round and, against my better judgment, I went to the bar and picked up a pitcher of miller light because it was on special for $7. I hand the snotty bartender my card: "Keep it open or close it" "Close it please." "There is a $10 dollar minimum." "What?! Jesus...alright I'll put a $3 tip on." "No it has to be $10 spent." "Is that a joke?" "Nope, keep it open or do you have cash." "I don't have cash, so keep it open." So, in order to hit my minimum I buy another pitcher and spent exactly $14. I put a $2 tip on and sign it away. Here's the kicker. I go to check my bank account on Monday morning only to find 2 separate charges on my bill. One for the $16 that I spent and another for $40. $40?! My only assumption is that while keeping my card they closed out someone else's tab on it. I haven't yet, but I'll be calling there today to get this straightened out and if they refuse to (which I'm half expecting at this point) I'm going to lodge a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.     This place is a perfect spot for sitting outside in the summer and enjoying a yummy burger and a beer. They serve your basic beers with a few micro brews thrown in the mix, but nothing super extensive. The inside reminds me of a college bar, and they sometimes have bands on the weekends. Whatever you order, opt for the tator tots! :)

    I have been here twice and both times have been very disappointing. The food is okay - burgers are good and there are some good options, but it cannot make up for how terrible the service is. I mean it is TERRIBLE. Our dinners have taken double the time because our servers have been so awful - everything takes forever and there are never any apologies. The last time the server didnt even know that my husband had ordered soup before his meal and almost sent it back to the kitchen. We will never be back - I do not recommend this place to anyone, there are other places to eat and drink in Arlington Heights.

    Ok great place for brews in AH, but wouldnt recommend the food here. Started off w/ an order of buffalo wings, my friend dug right in but to only bite into a wing that was frozen in the middle. Always, always sucks knowing your food is frozen and not fresh. Even sucks more when your friend thinks he's smarter than everyone and grabs the smallest wing thinking that one wouldnt be frozen. And 2nd strike that one was frozen too!! Waitress came over grabbed them from us and took them off the bill and brought hot ones. Ok now the beers are flowing outside, light crowd during the week, enjoying the weather and the food comes out. Whatever rest. offers tots or fries, im going w/ tots 133% of the time. Come on how can you not?!? Brings me back to the grade school days! haha...Anyways veggie burger w/ tots. These days usually bars have good veg burgers to supply the healthier type eaters. A lil bit of ketchup and mustard on the burger first bite im like ok maybe I need some more k and m. Load it up for the next bite and was just truly dissapointed I think they decided to to over cook the frozen imitation boca burger. The thing was like card board. Strike 3! I wanted to get up and leave right there but they gave me so many tater tots it was enough for a meal alone! So I basically had fried potatoes and beer for dinner. Jenny Craig here I come. So I had to call over the waitress again and complain, I felt bad for her but seriously the food is waaaaaay below average here. She took the burger off the bill which was cool of her and she got a nice tip for her doing her job. On the other hand the food was terrible. Good local place for beer ONLY!!!!

    I used to go in all the time...Pat, Kim and Malina (sp) are great, but I am done going to Harry's for a long time. Over priced food and bad service. Pat (new GM) is the only person keeping this place going. They forgot how to take care of the regulars and if you are not sitting at the bar you mine as well be preparred to get your own drinks. Servers forget about you after your first round. If its busy you will never get a drink!!!!

    Harrys' is probably my least favorite place to go in this section of Arlington Heights. I've been here a few times, and I've never been wowed. They have your normal selection at the bar, nothing fancy or special. The food is your normal pub food, which I was not really impressed with either. The service is the part that bothers me the most. They are not friendly or attentive (whether they are busy or not). The last time we came in the place was packed. It took a while for someone to notice that we were even standing there. When they greeted us, they pretty much let us fend for ourselves in order to find a table. We decided to go somewhere else. It's a decent place to come if you're looking to get a drink and everywhere else is packed, but I wouldn't say it's the best place in the area.

    We used to love having a burger and tater tots at this restaurant. After my boyfriend returned from his trip to Asia, the first thing he said was let's go to Harry's and get a burger. We knew something was up because the menu had changed from a newspaper style to a regular restaurant menu. After one bite of the burger, which was served on a different bun (used to be pretzel) I asked the waitress if there was a new owner. She said, well a new manager. I asked if they changed the burger, she said yes, they are using a different burger. The most grease laden non flavorful burger ever. My stomach is still reeling--I had to come back a write a review. The tater tots (and let me tell you I NEVER leave at tater tot) we couldn't even finish. They tasted fine when hot but then tasted like a lard tot after that. Also couldn't help but notice the pool of grease left on our plates from them. If this is a new manager--news flash to the owner--fire him/her. If it's a new owner, well, I don't think Harry's will be our first choice for a burger anymore.

    I've been to Harry's a few times even though I have never lived in the area. We went on a Saturday night and it was pretty dead at 7pm but by 9pm the place was so rocking it was hard to move around. Good mix of young and old in here so there was a good diverse by fun crowd. Server started out really good but got mediocre and worse by a couple hours later. We saw her run to the 2nd floor 2 or 3 times without stopping by our table over at least a 15-20 minute period. granted, I have a feeling they might have been short on servers but we eventually ended up chasing her down just to get the bill. Why oh why do bars insist on having sub-par musical entertainment though? I looked around and I didn't notice anyone that was really paying attention or enjoying the music. Jukeboxes exist for a reason! Well, at least they didn't try to get me to pay a cover.

    4 star food with 2 star service...me and my gal pal posse arrived around 6 on a Sat night and requested patio seating. It took about 15 minutes for the server to return and she had a 5 or 6 year old child with her...kinda odd. Not sure if she was babysitting and waitressing at the same time, but that's how it appeared. We got a bucket of Miller Lites and their Nachos Grande. The nachos were very well made, lots of spicy ground beef, refried beans, jalapenos, chips, cheddar cheese. Good food, not quite okay service, hence the 3 stars.

    After the races, we wanted a patio to sit on and drink until our friends train rolled through to bring them back into the city. The folks at the track suggested Harry's, and when we drove through downtown Arlington Heights, this definitely looked like the patio for us! It was an absolutely gorgeous night out! We only had an hour. The service was good, and the apps we ordered were perfect. We have the chicken nachos and pretzel bread served with cheese and mustard. We were all pretty full from the food truck festival at Arlington park, so these were perfect apps for our group of four. This place was great - located in the most adorable downtown suburban neighborhood.

    Great little bar with an urban atmosphere. If you're looking for something fancy this isn't for you as it isn't too "dive bar" either, something in the middle. Standard bar food and drinks. The only issue we had was waiting a little longer for drinks on a Saturday. Waitress was nice but she was the only one working the floor, not her fault. Looking forward to round two.

    A surprisingly good experience. Look at all of those other blah reviews below this one (or maybe above). I was nervous when we took a stab at going here because our restaurant of choice this particular evening had an hour wait. Harry's was kid friendly (surprised me). We had a very attentive server. Everyone (by chance) ordered the different types of tacos they had on the menu and were all pleasantly surprised. The drinks are oddly priced but priced really well (so, who cares if it's something and 70 cents...it was cheap!) I'm happy we were the outliers in the bell curve of so-so service/food. We'll give it another go for sure!

    Great casual fare at a typical price 10-12 per meal. Yesterday a group of real estate agents met here for lunch. Lots of salads and quesadillas were eaten. Odd woman out....I had an avocado BLT. Generous with the bacon. Marble rye was a nice choice and those lovely little tater tots were so good those wimpy salad people shared an order. Bartender very attentive. Refilled nonalcoholic drinks regularly. During meal we committed to visiting more local cafes together. Next stop unknown. Nice lunch experience.

    We stopped in here to grab a bite to eat before catching a concert at the Metropolis. It's a cute little corner establishment located in the quaint downtown Arlington Heights area, but in all honesty ... it could use a facelift to keep up with the rest of the area. That aside, I ordered chicken tenders, which for a bar, I expected to still be halfway decent. I mean, how can you screw up chicken tenders, right? Wrong. They were mostly breading, and a little too cooked for my liking. And you don't get many tenders (I think I had 3, which were short, stumpy pieces). That may have been fine, if it had been mostly chicken, but as I was dining on mostly breading, that was disappointing. And the ladies restroom was just in a bizarre spot. There's a table right outside the door. I almost felt like the party seated there would hear everything going on inside. I understand that this building itself is probably old, but it may just be time to gut it and refresh the layout, and upgrade a few things. The entrance is very bizarre as well, and seems like wasted space. Just kind of disappointing all around.

    Oh Harry's how I wish u were great (but I think most of us know u just aren't). Average food and beer. Better bloody than average but eddies and Peggy's have u beat. I had a super thin buffalo chicken sandwich that was decent, but there a much better out there. Their beer garden is my favorite in the area but I wish food and service were better. Message to the owners... Please redo, rehire, and refresh ur place. I know lots of people in the area and we all agree this is a gold mind waiting for the introduction into the present.

    2 stars 3 stars 2 stars 3 stars...3 stars for Harry's. Just barely. Why the wavering star rating? Well, Harry's burgers are not very good. And that's all I wanted - to savor a juicy burger on their sweet little patio. The burger patty itself is snooze-worthy. No flavor. It's very much akin to a frozen patty you'd find from Costco. The Merkt's cheese atop said patty was muddled and a bit greasy - it didn't help the flavor along. I was a starvin' marvin so I consumed about half my burger, but, frankly, didn't enjoy it in the least. But there are a few positives. They have tater tots. Yes, that makes me happy. Are they the most wondrous tots around? Nah, but a crispy hot tot goes a long way with me. The patio (outdoor bar) is one of the only in the area. On a picturesque fall day, it's a great place to enjoy an app and a bev. For those who like to have an ale of a time, their beer list is moderate but nicely put together. That is, if they have said beers in stock. For those who are Coca Cola-philes, Harrys is Pepsi products only. They're also running a nice Yelp Check In offer - free domestic draft with any entree purchase.

    Went back to Harry's after my 1st review because the owner commented on my review and told me that things were changing in management and service. So here is my review of the current status of Harry's. They have added a variety of food to the menu so now there are more options, my wife and I went halloween weekend so the staff was dressed in costumes which shows that it truly is a fun place to be. But the food was still just average. I ordered the streak sandwich and it was very very plain.. it was just cheese, a thin piece of steak and some peppers or onions all served on a hoogie bun.. I asked for no mushrooms and of corse I got mushrooms.. which I just picked off no big deal. I wish the sandwich came with some kind of sauce other than the ketchup that could be put on it if you so choose. The wait staff was very friendly and trying their best, but there were some minor confusions going on mainly involving Yelp. I checked on on yelp and the current deal at Harry's was 1 fee domestic beer with any entree, so i ordered my entree and showed my waiter the coupon.. he had never seen it before, but to his credit that check in deal was very new (maybe only a week old). So he talked with the manager and I got my beer. But then the table next to use also was using yelp and bought a 20 dollar gift certificate on yelp for Harry's for just 10 dollars. No one there knew what this ment and it took them a good 15 minutes to finally settle the bill. I felt pretty bad for them but it all worked out in the end. If you're hitting up downtown arlington heights I would high recommend stopping in at harry's for a pint or two.. but if you want something more than bar food I would eat before hand.

    Ugh! came here over the weekend because I received a coupon in the mail. I should've suspected something was amiss when I found out the coupon for dinner did not include the booze tab. First, the plus's Wait staff was very attentive and the beer was cold. I ordered the chilli mac and cheese came out so cold the cheese was coagulated. So I asked the staff to heat it up. They must have put it in the micro for 30 seconds, for it was not that much warmer. But it was edible. At this point I just wanted to eat and leave. I did not know but the party I went with ordered their signature hamburger. The bun was STALE. Really? Arlington Heights?

    So many good options in the NW suburbs, I'm not sure why we stopped here. I think it was the outdoor patio and the sign claiming the best burgers in town. OK, the patio was decent enough though it lacked any real atmosphere or charm. And the service was fine. But my real reason for stopping was the burger, which I thought was very subpar. No real flavor and dominated by an oversized and flavorless pretzel bun. Boring. No reason to go back.

    Moved to AH last year, and really enjoyed coming in for a good burger and beer. Service was great and always had a great energy. We returned with our same group of 7-9 people, ordered a few rounds of buckets and the waitress was not pleasant at all. She checked our ID's and asked us to leave due to one of our friends ID's being out of town from North Carolina, which was a vertical ID. Our friend had another form of ID but the waitress didn't care to look. (She had just moved to Chicago and this was her first night out). The waitress stated that the "entire bar would be shut down if they were caught taking vertical ID's" .. I understand following the rules and laws for that matter, but even with another form of ID on hand and multiple credit cards all in the same name, I guess this didn't suffice. The same waitress then made a comment about my fiance's ID, stating that he "definitely must have lost some weight since he took his driver's license picture". Now, we're a group of sarcastic, funny people and like to have a good time, but the comments made were very rude and inappropriate. Our group of friends would probably come in once a week and order multiple rounds and buckets, so it's a shame we don't feel comfortable coming in anymore. I once really enjoyed this place, but maybe some customer service training will be needed before we return.

    I've been in Arlington Heights now for a little over 4 months and I've been to Harry's now 4 times. It's always a good time, they always have drink specials and their food is great. My friend most recently had their chicken with avocado and she said it was awesome! They also have trivia on Thursdays which I always think is fun. Definitely a place to check out when in downtown Arlington Heights.

    Went here for lunch on the weekend of the Promenade of Art. After walking and looking at the Fine and Not So Fine Art, we decided on Harry's. My guest has been here before and she commented on the great burgers on "pretzel" rolls. She was right on both counts. With the Art Fair in progress, I expected to wait for awhile for Al Fresco seating. You all know Al. Great guy from Taylor St (LOL). Our server was very diligent. Asking when she came past if we needed anything. The food took a while but they were packed. I had the Best Cheddar Burger in Town. Yes! My day for some beef, cheese, and bacon.     Harrys' is like an extension of my home. I enjoy having my buddies over to my house to watch a game, drink brewskis, munch grub, relax and laugh. When I want to do all that stuff, but don't want to run to the liquor store or clean up the mess afterward, we all go to Harrys'. For this, Harrys' is great. Perfect, even. Four stars, if what you want is a nice place to hang out and party with friends. Here's what you'll find there: * Plenty of TVs for your sports viewing * Buckets of cold long necks that keep coming from the friendly waitresses * A good selection of tasty pub grub - loaded tots are terrific * Outdoor patio seating that's just the best on a nice summer night * Friendly locals who like to laugh and have a great time * An ultra relaxed, laid back atmosphere where you can have a great time without dropping much cash For this, Harrys' is perfect. Harrys' is like the party I'd throw at my own home. I like it there. If you're in the mood for a fun night in a bar -- a real, genuine, 100% fun tavern -- Harrys' is the best place for it in Arlington Heights.

    okay i'll admit, i thought this place would have good burgers because the sign in the window said so. when will i learn! to be fair, the sign said they had the best burgers in town, but i neglected to research just how the other burgers in town were, so maybe it was the truth after all. but it was not a good burger. i ordered it medium and it came out well-done and was dense and dry, much like the pretzel bun it came on. wilty lettuce too. i was the only one there and it still took forever to come out. which now that i think about it, might be why it was so overdone. i like that tots were an option though and those were good, but not remarkable. it's just hard to mess up tots i think. service was fine, which i think is to be expected since no one else was there. a couple regulars came in as i was finishing up and i think that's probably what the place is best for - hanging out if you're a regular.

    We discovered Harry's about 5 years ago when we used to live in Arl Hts. I liked it alot because at that time, we'd moved out here from the city, and missed the "neighborhood pubs" that were around. Harry's literally is like one of those city pubs, picked up, and plopped out here in Arlington Heights. Their food is standard pub food. I have a big fondness for the fish n chips there. However I get it on bread and make it into a sandwich. My husband would usually get a burger. The service is not great. Don't plan on your server being attentive. Sometimes if they are busy, you do have to wave them down. The beer selection is great. It was here that I was introduced to "Stella". The prices are a little above average, but the amount of food you get for it kind of makes up for the price. The best part of Harry's in the summertime is eating out on their patio! All in all, it's not great, it's not bad.

    Started a train crawl here and we couldn't have been happier. With a group of 15 or so people we were able to get our drinks quickly. That's pretty important when you have limited time and need to catch the next train. We will definitely come back on the next train crawl.

    Went here on a Friday to celebrate my friends bday. We were atleast 30 ppl deep, and we walk into this tiny place lol. There were only 2 bartenders, took a long time to get drinks. Place was 2 small, crowd was gay ( you can this is a "regulars" bar). I dont think im ever going to go back to this place lol

    Came here about 6:30 on Friday night with two friends. We walked in and it was a strange crowd- seniors and children. We sat ourselves and the server came over and took our drink order. The place started to fill up and the children left. The menu was obnoxious, as it was laid out like a newspaper, so there were articles mixed in with food items, which made it confusing and annoying. They had $7 pitchers, so we took advantage of that. The food was OK. I ordered a chicken sandwich and got the marble rye bread.....they basically slapped the bread on the chicken, one would assume it would be toasted. The tots were good, my friend said her mac & cheese was good and the fish tacos my friend had looked not so great, but she didn't complain so it must have been OK. This place wasn't anything special, but it was just OK.

    Great place to catch lunch during the week. We at the Eagle frequented Harry's on those nice days where we wanted to eat in the great outdoors (and really were just looking for an excuse to leave the office of course). They have a nice patio to grab a bite, reasonable prices and a good beer selection. Last time I went, I got myself a corned beef sandwich. As a corned beef connoisseur, I was mighty impressed. And the waitstaff has always been friendly and quick to serve our food. Get out of the office and come here for lunch!

    Places with nice outside seating usually get a bump up in my scale o'ratings, but with so many casual restaurants nearby with outdoor seating, that alone could not bump Harry's up to three stars. First, the bar: Standard beer selection, nothing fancy. The do have decent specials (on lackluster beer) and are relatively close to the train station, so props to being a place people could feasibly have a happy hour after a long day of workin' in the City. Next, the food: The menu is quite extensive, but most items fail to rise above mediocre. Nice that you can swap out the beef in your burger for chicken or a ground turkey patty, but none of the burgers looked all that inspiring. I went with the fish tacos. The fish part was more fried fishstick than the "flaky" fish promised in the menu. The veggies on the tacos were good, but sparse. Also, what's up with the boatload of tator tots on the side? They totally overwhelmed the plate. Now, I'm not a culinary genius (read: I grew up in a house devoid of pots and pans), but I think I've deconstructed the recipe for the salsa that comes with the Chips & Salsa appetizer: Two parts ketchup to one part Tabasco. Mix and serve. Ole!

    The bar positions itself as a sports bar. I think there were 4 or 5 TVs total, 2 were small. The sound was not on any of the games...they had music on. Now I know there is no way I'd come here to watch football, much less a game I care about. The food was terrible. They write that they have the best burgers in Arlington Heights. If these are the best, I would rather go to McDonald's. The bun was nasty in a puffy, Wonderbread sort of way, and one side of it was a bit dried out. The burger showed up cold, and the cheese was thrown on there and didn't melt because they put it on much later. I sent it back...I verrry rarely do that. They made a new one, which I give them kudos for. The burger itself is a frozen burger with no taste. They don't actually make them. The only thing that saves this place from a 1 star rating is that they have tater tots.

    I attend Harrys regularly. Lately, the environment is less than comfortable & welcoming. I've witnessed the manager berate an employee publicly, patron the bar heavily intoxicated- And, on June 6th I witnessed him drinking while on duty. I know this because I asked to see a manager & when my server approached him, I was appauled. Very disappointing. I get that this is a bar...but save it for off duty.

    New management or some other atrocious downfall befell this place. It is now just terribly awful. They cut the menu to practically nothing. Not only is there very little on the menu, that which is on the menu is terrible. The prices went up. I don't know what happened but this place seemingly fell apart overnight. To whomever now owns Harry's: I don't go to a bar on a Friday night to watch some high school kid jam on his guitar. Not only did I have to endure this poor excuse for a musician (really? Every "song" you play on your acoustic guitar needs to be run through a distortion pedal?), the waitress only served us one round in the forty minutes that we were there. So sad to see this place go.

    Harry's is everything Kathy R said. I love the wednesday night Karaoke, the regulars, staff and menu. I would give them a sixth star for having boddingtons and blue moon on tap, but we can only give a mere 5. NEW AND IMPROVED, NOW SMOKE-FREE. ( Even if I am a smoker, it is an improvement.)

    Very cool neighborhood gathering pub! In downtown Arlington Heights, Harry's is housed in a building of a general store that operated at the turn of the century. It has an outdoor patio, serves basic bar food (my pick: tater tots) and has big-screen TVs, but it's the ambiance that is so outstanding. It's a good place to hang out -- kind of reminds me of Cheers. Offers karaoke on Wed. nights, table trivia on Thursday nights and live music (usually cover bands) on Sat. nights. A friend of mine worked there and we spent a lot of time there: eating, drinking, hanging out; playing table trivia (usually with a full house) was a riot! Staffers are friendly and the owner, Harry (duh!), is super nice. I once went with a group of moms and our babies, and Harry came over and admired the infants and thanked us for coming. The only negative thing is that it can be awfully smoky. (is A.H. still debating a no smoking ordinance?) If it weren't for that, I'd give it 5 stars.

    Went there for lunch today ordered the Cheese burger it was fair maybe a little dry and a little pressed as they must compact the meat before cooking, my wife's was the same way, the bun was really good maybe toast it though , tater tots were over cooked and really greasy. We ate outside it was nice and quit. The waiter was nice but didn't bring the "A" game today almost like he puffed a little magic dragon before he came into work. Im not sure If I could recommend this place by just the one visit

    We arrived early on a Friday night for some pub food and beer. The place has an OK atmosphere and an extensive beer list, unfortunately most of the beers are "light" or no taste mass market beers. The service was very slow and the food mediocre. I gave it two stars because of the outdoor seating.

    Wish I could give .25 of a star. Service was incredibly slow, waited 10 minutes to be greeted by server & take our drink order. Drinks arrived 10 minutes later (which weren't priced on the menu). Appetizers took over 15 minutes after placing order and were cold when they arrived. Burger did not arrive cooked to my order. Had to send back & they made another. Had to ask for a 2nd set of silverware after botched burger was taken away. "New" burger was cooked well, but the pretzel bun was grilled "thisclose" to being burned. Completely eliminated any sense of it being a pretzel bun. "Cobb salad" had chopped up lunch meat on it. Server was not attentive, despite being only 1 of 3 tables. All employees were gathered together, talking with each other, checking their cell phones & watching the ball game. Incredibly disappointed in the restaurant - especially when the 18% gratuity was automatically applied (from my Restaurant.com gift certificate) - would have given less than 10%. At least I didn't purchase the gift certificate. Do not go back unless you like .25-star restaurants, being ignored by servers and getting your order wrong.

It seemed very "regular" geared, I mean we got stared at like we had something growing out of our foreheads when we walked in.     At a great location, in the heart of downtown Arlington Heights, Harry's is a typical neighborhood bar. They have a nice beer selection (Blue Moon on tap) and the burger is probably the best I've had in AH. It can get crowded from time to time on the weekends, but in the summertime, the outdoor beer garden offers a great alternative.

    When we first moved to Arlington Heights 8 years ago I would've given Harry's 4 stars. Decent beer (sorry, real micro-beer fan here) and good food. Loved the outdoor seating. Close to our house. Fun to walk around downtown AH. However the service was slow. The slow service only seemed to get worse over the years, and the menu more limited. The last time we went (on a Sunday around 11:30am) the place wasn't particularly packed. Food was ok, but we were there for over 90 minutes!! And we didn't drink. Just eat and *try* to get out. Probably waited 15 minutes just to have a waitress come over to the table (after another employee actually sat us). Then probably 40 minutes to get our hamburgers. I don't think our waitress came over once after the meal was served. I finally had to get up and track her down to get the check. It was another 10 minutes before she came over with the check. Long story short, my wife and daughter finally just left and went to a nearby store while I still waited to pay. I believe its the first time in my life I left $0 for a tip. This experience was 2 years ago and we've never been back. Doubt we ever will.

    I'm just going to start by saying that I absolutely hate this place. I actually created a yelp log in solely so that I can come on here and urge people NOT to spend money at this bar. To begin with, the first time that I had stepped foot into Harry's was after I missed a train at the Arlington Heights train station. It was late and I was angry that I missed the train, so I had stepped into the bar at roughly midnight. I was excited because I wanted a beer REALLY bad and the sign said they were open till 1 (this was on a weeknight). The bar was semi full of people or enough to not warrant a reason to close early. I go up to the bar and ask for miller light and the bartender just flat out refuses me telling me that they are closing (refresher: it's not 12:05am with a room of people). I said I just really wanted a beer that I'd pay cash and I slam it right away. She refuse again and I storm out REALLY pissed when she passed the guy next to me at the bar another round. After that night I refused to ever go in there again, until of course, my friends moved down the street and wanted to go for a birthday party. We went and I stuck to my guns and didn't spend a dime. The last and absolute FINAL time I went in there, was because they were giving away Bears tickets and my friends wanted to try and win them at a raffle. Also, Dan Hampton from the '85 Bears was there signing autographs and, actually, that was kind of neat. It was my turn to buy a round and, against my better judgment, I went to the bar and picked up a pitcher of miller light because it was on special for $7. I hand the snotty bartender my card: "Keep it open or close it" "Close it please." "There is a $10 dollar minimum." "What?! Jesus...alright I'll put a $3 tip on." "No it has to be $10 spent." "Is that a joke?" "Nope, keep it open or do you have cash." "I don't have cash, so keep it open." So, in order to hit my minimum I buy another pitcher and spent exactly $14. I put a $2 tip on and sign it away. Here's the kicker. I go to check my bank account on Monday morning only to find 2 separate charges on my bill. One for the $16 that I spent and another for $40. $40?! My only assumption is that while keeping my card they closed out someone else's tab on it. I haven't yet, but I'll be calling there today to get this straightened out and if they refuse to (which I'm half expecting at this point) I'm going to lodge a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.     This place is a perfect spot for sitting outside in the summer and enjoying a yummy burger and a beer. They serve your basic beers with a few micro brews thrown in the mix, but nothing super extensive. The inside reminds me of a college bar, and they sometimes have bands on the weekends. Whatever you order, opt for the tator tots! :)

    I have gone to Harry's a ton when I lived in Arlington Heights and I still like going there when the opportunity arises. They have good finger foods (tater tots!) and they have entertainment on certain nights as well. The patio is great during the summers. I have been to numerous birthday parties and New Year's Eve to Harry's. They have yet to fail me. It's definitely got the neighborhood bar feel and the patrons vary in age. It can get crowded since it's not the biggest place. They hold their own though with Peggy's across the street and a piano bar. Definitely a good place to have a low key evening socializing with friends.

    Eh, it's a bar. Not great, not completely horrible. I've been there on a Friday night and it was completely packed, couldn't get a seat anywhere. We ended up going upstairs and getting a spot along the rail to lean. Big mistake! As others have said, the service is practically non-existent, so I had to go back downstairs every time we wanted a drink. We went again on a weeknight when they were the "Dinner and a Movie" spot for the week. The burger was OK, typical bar burger. Again, the service was horrible, and there were only about a dozen people in the place. On a side note, the dinner and a movie deal is a great way to get to know the different places around Arlington Heights. For $28 per couple, you get a meal from the "special" menu at the featured restaurant of the week and then go to a movie at the Arlington Theater.

    Harry's is a good local bar and grill. I feel the service could be better as well as the food. I guess what do you expect from a small bar, you get bar food. I was there recently for trivia night and it was compete chaos, noone was into the game and the guy running it was really irritated. Our table ordered Spin Dip and never got it. We finally went up to the bar to check and see what was going on after waiting 30 min. They finally brought it out, they apologized and covered the cost but the dip didnt taste good at all. This place I am sure is a great place to drink with friends late at night but for dinner I would pass.

    I have been here twice and both times have been very disappointing. The food is okay - burgers are good and there are some good options, but it cannot make up for how terrible the service is. I mean it is TERRIBLE. Our dinners have taken double the time because our servers have been so awful - everything takes forever and there are never any apologies. The last time the server didnt even know that my husband had ordered soup before his meal and almost sent it back to the kitchen. We will never be back - I do not recommend this place to anyone, there are other places to eat and drink in Arlington Heights.

    Ok great place for brews in AH, but wouldnt recommend the food here. Started off w/ an order of buffalo wings, my friend dug right in but to only bite into a wing that was frozen in the middle. Always, always sucks knowing your food is frozen and not fresh. Even sucks more when your friend thinks he's smarter than everyone and grabs the smallest wing thinking that one wouldnt be frozen. And 2nd strike that one was frozen too!! Waitress came over grabbed them from us and took them off the bill and brought hot ones. Ok now the beers are flowing outside, light crowd during the week, enjoying the weather and the food comes out. Whatever rest. offers tots or fries, im going w/ tots 133% of the time. Come on how can you not?!? Brings me back to the grade school days! haha...Anyways veggie burger w/ tots. These days usually bars have good veg burgers to supply the healthier type eaters. A lil bit of ketchup and mustard on the burger first bite im like ok maybe I need some more k and m. Load it up for the next bite and was just truly dissapointed I think they decided to to over cook the frozen imitation boca burger. The thing was like card board. Strike 3! I wanted to get up and leave right there but they gave me so many tater tots it was enough for a meal alone! So I basically had fried potatoes and beer for dinner. Jenny Craig here I come. So I had to call over the waitress again and complain, I felt bad for her but seriously the food is waaaaaay below average here. She took the burger off the bill which was cool of her and she got a nice tip for her doing her job. On the other hand the food was terrible. Good local place for beer ONLY!!!!

    An out-of-town friend and I came here for a few drinks. Although there was a bar crawl, the place was SOOOOOO loud. M and I couldn't even have a conversation without yelling at each other in the loft area. We wanted to sit outside but it was packed. To get to the patio you had to walk through the kitchen/server area. It was very awkward and cramped. The patio needs to be larger. I may go back but I wasn't impressed and not somewhere I would recommend my clients to go.

    Well, I like this place. The food is good! Recently had the chicken taco's and they were fresh and tasty. The service is really good. The gal that works behind the bar is friendly and conversational without intruding. Here's the trouble. There are a bunch of old, disheveled, rude men that sit at the bar and belch , pass gas, and cuss at the top of their lungs. It makes the whole place feel uncomfortable. Suggest bar rescue and get ride of these people!

    Never had the food but I like the place. Decent beer selection, the Sam Adams Summer Ale is good & so is the Phat Blonde Ale (I think that's what it's called). Not a huge place so it fills up quickly on weekend nights, esp if there's a game. Also, idk how common it is but sometimes the place is rented out for parties. So beware.

    Harry's is a great place to go to when you want to sit on the patio and enjoy a drink in the beautiful weather. Be forewarned that is can get a but crowded by younger patrons drinking as much as humanly possible on a weekend night and it gets rowdy. I have never tried the food here, but the food is always great and I will return for a casual drink!

    I wanted to like this place. I thought they have potential with the patio and all. I've patronized the place for many years (ever since I moved to Arlington Heights). It was always a dive but there were a few items on the menu that I liked such as black and blue burger. They changed the management and for worse. The menu is worse and the place has not been maintained properly. To add insult to injury today they refused to honor a Groupon. Had to argue with bad server and even worse bartender and the worst manager (some clueless girl) to let me use just the amount I paid for. They need new management BAD. The location is too good to be wasted like this.

    We had a group of about 10 people. Our server was very kind and our drinks came fast. A friend ordered some nachos that never made an appearance (not on the bill either) which after he had his beer he didn't mind. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was pretty good. This stop is right off the train so if you're doing a pub crawl go ahead and stop in.

    I used to go in all the time...Pat, Kim and Malina (sp) are great, but I am done going to Harry's for a long time. Over priced food and bad service. Pat (new GM) is the only person keeping this place going. They forgot how to take care of the regulars and if you are not sitting at the bar you mine as well be preparred to get your own drinks. Servers forget about you after your first round. If its busy you will never get a drink!!!!
